Finding Goldilocks: Managing Societal Systems at Optimal Scales
Session I: A Conversation with Paolo Pezzotta
Goldilocks Zone Speaker Series

Finding Goldilocks:  Managing Societal Systems at Optimal Scales will be an opportunity for thinkers and doers to reconsider, reexamine, and reimagine Philly's future and the scales at which large problems facing our world can be solved.  If you are willing to embrace disruptive ideas, and want Philly to become a socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable community, then this is a conversation you should not miss!

Our guest speaker will be Mr. Paolo Pezzotta, transportation expert, economist, and former Penn Professor.  Mr. Pezzotta will use the Callowhill Viaduct transportation spine as an example of how Philadelphian's can use the built environment to produce economic growth, create jobs, and reduce the city's high rate of poverty.  He will discuss transportation systems regionally, inter-regionally, and globally to shed light on the scale in which we can ignite sustainable economic development through thoughtful infrastructure development.

The event will be the first of The Sustainability Nexus' Goldilocks Zone Speaker Series.  This series is an ongoing initiative of The Sustainability Nexus to help connect our community with opportunities to participate in discourse aimed at solving the world's major problems and the appropriate scale in which those solutions lie.  Max Zahniser, co-founder of The Sustainability Nexus, will be introducing some key terminology and frameworks in understanding Goldilocks zone problem solving and will moderate the conversation over the course of the evening.
